Privacy Policy
Plain-English version: we collect as little data about visitors as practically possible. Our interactive tools run entirely in your browser; nothing about the images, screen size, or hardware they read is sent to our server.
1. What we collect
- Server access logs. Our web host records a standard HTTP access log containing your IP address, browser user-agent, the URL requested, the referring URL, and a timestamp. We use these logs only for security and operational purposes.
- Analytics (if enabled). If we run a privacy-friendly analytics service (such as Plausible, Fathom, or Simple Analytics — none of which use cookies or fingerprinting), it records the same fields as the server log plus the URL of the page and an anonymised country code.
- Comments (if enabled). If a future version of the site accepts user comments, we will collect the name, email address, and comment text you submit. Email addresses are never displayed publicly and never sold to third parties.
2. What we do not collect
- We do not run Google Analytics or any other cookie-based tracker.
- We do not run fingerprinting scripts.
- Our interactive tools (the Shortcut Finder, Requirements Checker, Aspect Ratio Calculator) compute everything client-side. The information they read — your operating system, screen size, RAM, etc. — never leaves your browser.
- We do not sell or rent any data to third parties.
3. Cookies
This site does not set first-party cookies. If we later add a display-advertising network (such as AdSense or Mediavine), that network will set its own cookies and a cookie-consent banner will appear at that time so you can accept, reject, or customise them. Until then there is nothing for you to consent to.
4. Third-party content
Where we embed third-party content (for example, a YouTube video tutorial) that third party may set its own cookies and collect its own data. We have no control over those policies; please read the relevant third party's own privacy policy.
5. Your rights
Under the GDPR (EU/UK), the CCPA (California), and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Because we collect almost no identifying information, in practice the only thing we can usually identify is the server-log IP address. Email us via the contact page to make a request and we will respond within thirty days.
6. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If a parent or guardian believes we have inadvertently done so, please contact us and we will delete the data immediately.
7. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date below and, where the change affects visitors who have previously provided personal data, we will notify them by email.
